After a judge denied Chance’s motion to dismiss the case on March 26, things are officially heating up.
Corcoran managed Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, from 2012 until the fallout following 2019’s ‘The Big Day’ album.
The ongoing legal dispute stemmed from a 2020 lawsuit, in which Corcoran claims he is owed over $3 million in unpaid commissions.
Chance clapped back with a countersuit in 2021, accusing Corcoran of exploiting his name for personal gain and calling him a disgruntled ex-employee. The messy back-and-forth led to dismissals, countersuits, and court dates.
Chance’s legal team stands firm in their stance, stating that:
“We respectfully believe that the Court incorrectly denied summary judgment, as there is no legal or factual basis for Mr. Corcoran or his entity to obtain additional compensation from Mr. Bennett or his entities for a full three years after Mr. Corcoran was fired.”
No trial date has been locked in yet, but one thing’s for sure – this won’t be dropping off quietly.
