From where many-a-critic stood, KeKe Palmer was the undoubted winner of the 2026 Halloween celebrity costume showdown when she not only donned Janet Jackson‘s costume from Michael Jackson‘s 1995 ‘Scream‘ music video but she also recreated the history-making visual with her 3-year-old son Leodis.

The now-viral reimagining has garnered over 1 million likes and 13,000 comments, many of which came from fellow celebs and Jackson enthusiasts alike.

No commendation ranked higher than Janet’s herself, however, as the Pop Queen took to Instagram to share the short clip and reveal she “loved it.”

KeKe, already on a high from capturing the third EMMY of her career, recently chatted it up with our friends at EXTRA about what Janet’s Halloween recognition meant to her.

“Janet reposting it almost sent me into a tailspin. I’m like ‘not my girl Janet,'” she exclaimed (as seen in the video above).

As if that wasn’t enough, the actress-singer gave Jackson another nod for the difficulty of those iconic dance moves found in the ‘Scream’ video.

“Can I just tell you that at 33-years-old, the legs aren’t what they used to be. When I tell you the next day I could barely move trying to do that damn move that Janet did [in ‘Scream’]? She ain’t no joke! That’s some serious stuff,” Palmer shared.

That’s not all she said.
