Michael Jackson could be on the cusp of another historic chart triumph!

For, more than four decades after its original reign, the King of Pop’s blockbuster album ‘Thriller’ is mounting a serious challenge for the #1 spot on the Billboard 200.

And if the legendary LP manages to reach the summit, it will achieve a feat not seen since 1984.

According to early projections from Hits Daily Double, ‘Thriller’ is tracking to earn approximately 52,000 equivalent album units in the United States this week.

The album is currently pacing for #2, but remains firmly in contention for the coveted top spot.

Should it triumph, the 1982 classic would notch its 38th week at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking its first appearance at the summit in 42 years and its first of the 21st century.

‘Thriller’ previously spent an unprecedented 37 nonconsecutive weeks atop the chart between 1983 and 1984.

The latest surge comes hot on the heels of Halloween, which saw the album’s iconic title track enjoy a colossal streaming revival.

As reported by That Grape Juice, the song soared to #1 on Spotify’s Global chart for the first time, amassing a whopping 6.606 million streams on October 31 alone.

It’s the latest chapter in a blockbuster year for Brand MJ.

Indeed, the album previously returned to the Billboard 200’s Top 5 following the box office success of Jackson’s biopic ‘Michael.’

Now, with the final chart still to be decided, the best-selling album of all time has another shot at the throne.
