Yung Miami spent the summer commanding the charts with ‘Spend Dat.’
However, the rapper’s debut solo album ‘Watch Dis’ has encountered a noticeably different reception on the Billboard 200.
After a high-profile rollout that saw the City Girls star enlist an army of major names, the first-week numbers are officially in.
And they make for interesting reading.
Full story below…
With the final numbers tallied, ‘Watch Dis’ debuts at #138 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 10,500 first-week units.
The soft opening comes after the blockbuster success of ‘Spend Dat,’ which peaked at #17 on the Hot 100 and became the biggest hit of Miami’s career, either solo or as part of City Girls.
For comparison, the duo’s final album, ‘RAW,’ opened at #117 in 2023 with roughly 10,000 units.
While the new LP enters at a lower position, its reported consumption is marginally higher.
The numbers also arrive against a deeply personal backdrop for Caresha.
As previously reported, she expressed immense pride in the project ahead of its release, declaring:
“I’m so so so excited about this album. It’s a great body of work and I’m so f*cking proud. I can’t wait for yall to hear.”
Speaking further about the album, she added:
“This is me betting on ME. I’ve been counted out before… I know what that feels like. But I also know what it feels like to prove everybody wrong”
Indeed, when That Grape Juice caught up with the femcee at the BET Awards, she spoke excitedly about her solo journey and what was coming next.
As the age-old adage goes, it’s not over until it’s over.
Because, as ‘Spend Dat’ proved, an artist is only but a hit away from a major moment.
Time will tell if the LP can produce another breakout hit.
Whatever the case, Miami has made clear that she is proud of the body of work, irrespective of the numbers.
