BET confirmed today (October 22) that Khan will be honored for her extraordinary contributions to Soul and R&B.

The 11-time GRAMMY winner has spent five decades shaping the sound of both genres. Indeed, her influence stretches far beyond her own celebrated catalog.

From her groundbreaking work with Rufus to solo classics such as ‘I’m Every Woman,’ ‘Ain’t Nobody,’ ‘Sweet Thing,’ and ‘I Feel for You,’ her impact is undeniable.

BET President Louis Carr hailed the 73-year-old as “the embodiment of soul music.” He also praised her ability to inspire generations of artists.

Chaka Khan’s Soul Train Awards Honor Marks Another Milestone

The latest recognition adds to an already eventful year for the music icon.

Earlier this year, Khan received the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award. She also returned with new music from her ‘CHAKZILLA’ era, working with the likes of Sia, Snoop Dogg, and Lenny Kravitz.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Soul Train Awards mark a major comeback for the long-running celebration of Black music.

As previously reported, the show is returning after a three-year absence. This year’s ceremony will also air on CBS for the first time.

Furthermore, the Chicago setting brings the festivities back to the city where Don Cornelius launched the original ‘Soul Train’ television series in 1971.

Anthony Anderson will host the ceremony, which promises performances, special tributes, and more.

The ‘Soul Train Awards 2026’ air Friday, November 27 at 8 PM ET/PT on BET and CBS.
