Verzuz announced the battle with a cinematic visual spotlighting Los Angeles and the pair’s shared Compton roots.

The clip featured The Game revisiting his desire to take part in the series and declaring himself the best rapper to emerge from the city, before posing a wider question: who is the leading rapper on the West Coast today?

Both artists arrive with extensive catalogs that have helped shape modern West Coast Hip-Hop.

The Game’s arsenal includes ‘How We Do,’ ‘Put You on the Game,’ ‘Dreams,’ and ‘Wouldn’t Get Far.’ YG, meanwhile, can draw from smashes such as ‘Who Do You Love?,’ ‘My N*gga,’ ‘Big Bank,’ and ‘Toot It and Boot It.’

Rumors of tension between the pair surfaced in 2024. However, YG swiftly dismissed the speculation and insisted there was nothing but love between them.

The face-off follows last month’s B2K and Pretty Ricky Verzuz battle.

YG and The Game will take the Verzuz stage on July 23 at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET. The event will stream live on Apple Music, as well as the Verzuz and Complex Instagram and YouTube channels.
