The singer compared her music collection to Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb Vault, giving fans another clue about what she’s recorded.

Rihanna’s unreleased songs could number 170 or more, judging by a comparison she made during a Fenty Beauty TikTok Shop livestream.

Asked by her longtime business partner Jennifer Rosales how much unreleased music she had stored away, Rihanna pointed to Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb Vault, a collection containing 10 products. She said she had “at least 17 vaults” of music.

Seventeen vaults with 10 items each would suggest 170 tracks or more. Rihanna did not give an exact count, say whether the songs are finished or confirm that any will appear on her ninth studio album, HOT 97 reported. The project is widely called R9 by fans, although Rihanna has not announced that as an official title.

Her most recent studio album, ANTI, arrived in January 2016, with songs including “Work,” “Needed Me” and “Love on the Brain.” Rihanna celebrated its 10th anniversary this January with an Instagram montage of moments from the album’s era.

She has released individual songs since then, including “Lift Me Up” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022 and “Friend of Mine” for Smurfs in 2025. Her 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance also came without a new album announcement.

Rocky told Jason Lee in August, “She in the studio right now,” and joked he might get in trouble for saying so. In February, Rihanna shared a video from a recording studio after a late-night Savage X Fenty meeting. It showed her taking notes and working at a mixing board, but the audio was muted.

In a February 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna said she had finally found a musical direction that felt right after rejecting earlier ideas. “I cannot put up anything mediocre,” she said. She also dismissed speculation that her next album would be reggae.

It’s still unclear which of Rihanna’s unreleased songs will make her next album. She has not announced a release date or tracklist.
