Jay-Z is pressing ahead in his legal battle with Tony Buzbee.

Days after his former accuser formally retracted her rape allegations, the Hip-Hop mogul is asking a California appeals court to revive his extortion and defamation case against the attorney and his firm.

Per reports, Jay’s petition for rehearing describes the woman’s sworn reversal as “explosive new evidence.”

The court previously upheld the lawsuit’s dismissal. His team now argues that her declaration warrants reconsideration and an opportunity to gather further evidence.

As reported, Jane Doe stated in her September 24 filing:

“I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter.”

She also declared that her allegations against him were false.

The California dispute centers on a demand letter Buzbee sent before publicly naming Jay in the since-dismissed sexual assault lawsuit. The rapper alleges it was an attempt to extract money through false accusations.

However, the appeals court previously found the letter was sent in anticipation of litigation and that the record did not establish Buzbee knowingly or recklessly made false statements.

Buzbee has maintained:

“Sending a basic demand letter prior to filing suit is not and will never be ‘extortion.’”

Separately, Jay’s New York malicious prosecution case against the lawyers continues. Doe was dismissed as a defendant last week.

The latest petition seeks another hearing. It does not mean the California case has been reinstated.
