Prosecutors allege two 2021 tax filings contained false financial information tied to Guobadia and his petroleum company.
Businessman Simon Guobadia is facing two federal charges in Georgia over allegations that tax filings connected to his personal income and petroleum business contained false financial information.
The indictment, returned in federal court on Tuesday, October 27, accuses Guobadia of assisting in the preparation and filing of false federal tax returns. TMZ disclosed the case on October 29, citing court documents obtained by its newsroom.
The allegations centre on two filings made in 2021 and the reported finances of Guobadia’s company, Simcol Petroleum Limited.
Prosecutors allege that a March 2021 filing declared zero taxable income, despite Guobadia allegedly knowing he had earned more. The same filing reportedly listed gross sales exceeding $45 million for the company.
A second filing, dated July 2021, allegedly reported taxable income of $58,231, while the company’s gross sales were listed at nearly $31 million.
Federal authorities contend that Guobadia knew the reported figures did not accurately reflect his taxable income and the company’s sales.
Court records cited by TMZ also indicate that an arrest warrant was issued for Guobadia. However, the report did not establish whether authorities had taken him into custody.
Guobadia is widely known for his former marriage to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” personality Porsha Williams. The pair married in November 2022, but Williams filed for divorce in February 2024.
Their separation later involved a dispute over property and financial arrangements. TMZ reported in August 2026 that Williams secured the couple’s multimillion-dollar Atlanta home and a seven-figure settlement.
Guobadia was also deported from the United States in 2025 amid immigration proceedings.
