The rapper’s lawyers released a statement on Thursday evening. Specifically, they called the new racketeering indictment “lipstick on a pig.”

“For nearly two years now, federal prosecutors have desperately tried to fend off challenges to a very weak case,” the statement read. “Now, just two months before trial, they pull this pathetic pivot.”

The legal team argued that the move signals weakness rather than strength. “This is not a sign of strength. It’s an acknowledgment of weakness,” they continued. “The fact remains: Durk Banks is innocent, no matter how many indictments they want to throw at him.”

The statement is attributed to attorneys Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, Brian Steel, and Christy O’Connor. Furthermore, the team shared it on Durk’s Instagram.

In court documents filed on Wednesday, prosecutors allege that Durk and other defendants were members of a criminal organization involved in murder, attempted murder, robbery, and drug trafficking. Consequently, two counts were added against Durk, including murder in aid of racketeering.

Durk was first arrested in October 2024. He pleaded not guilty to the initial charges. Prosecutors say they are “prepared to proceed to trial” in August.
