Latto is finally speaking candidly about the fallout with Cardi B that fueled months of fan speculation.
The Atlanta rapper had largely remained tight-lipped after tensions appeared to surface publicly last year.
However, while discussing lyrics on the track ‘Gimme Dat’ on her latest album ‘Big Mama’ on The Breakfast Club today (June 4), she confirmed that the situation with Cardi was very much on her mind at the time.
And while she made clear there is no active feud, she admitted the experience left a lasting impression. One more sour than sweet.
Full story below…
The drama dates back to the aftermath of Cardi’s highly publicized chart battle with Ice Spice, during which the Bronx rapper publicly apologized to Latto after online discourse dragged the femcee into the conversation.
Many fans later connected lyrics on Latto’s album to the situation, prompting questions about whether she was addressing Cardi directly.
Now, she’s confirmed that she was.
Speaking on the matter, she said:
“Well, yes, yeah, it was about Cardi. Like we were saying earlier, like I laugh about what’s going on in my life and at the moment and at the time, I was, well, first of all, I made this album over nine months.
I made the album while I was pregnant and yeah, I was at an early stage of my pregnancy and I rushed to the studio to do this verse for her in time for the first week’s sales, whatever. And yeah, for the ‘Errtime’ remix and literally like two days later, I don’t see y’all over the internet. I’m being called p*ssy. I’m pregnant, emotions high, like, you know.”
Continuing, she fessed:
“I did look at her like… we was on a (close text friendship) So I feel like, yeah, you tweeted to the world, but we got each other’s number.
Also, I never talked personally (with her) after that about that. So then like, probably like two months later or something like that, to do the text thing. But by that time, I was like, that ain’t even my… that ain’t even. I’m not… I got baby now. I have a lot on my plate.”
Waxing candid the more, she added:
“But yeah, I made that song a while back. People just now hearing that song, but like, I made that song when that was the topic of my life. It wasn’t no diss, like it was, that’s just what was happening in my life, frankly.
You talking about buying the bag, this mama bag. That’s just where I was in life, you know? It is what it is. I guess, it just left a bad taste in my mouth, so I just, like, I was in the booth and that’s just what was happening, and I just like, it was happening.”

When quizzed about whether she would be open to conversation now, the femcee replied that she would be.
Still, her admission that the ordeal “left a bad taste in my mouth” offers the clearest insight yet into how deeply the situation affected her behind the scenes.
