Four Muslim organizations and 14 community leaders endorsed the former Atlanta mayor, citing her engagement and policy commitments.

Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has received an endorsement from four Georgia Muslim organizations. Furthermore, 14 community leaders have backed her as she seeks to become the state’s next governor.

Announced Monday, October 26, the coalition said its support followed discussions with Bottoms earlier this summer about her vision for Georgia and issues affecting Muslim communities. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the meeting was arranged by the Georgia Muslim Civic Table. The endorsement highlights the role of community organizations and civic engagement in Georgia’s 2026 gubernatorial contest. Groups encourage voters to support candidates whose policies align with their priorities.

According to a press release shared by the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Georgia chapter (CAIR-Georgia), the endorsers cited Bottoms’ engagement with Muslim residents and her stated positions on several policy issues. Among their priorities are expanding access to health care, addressing the effects of data centers on local communities, protecting civil rights and religious freedom, and opposing anti-Muslim hate. The coalition also emphasized the importance of protecting free speech and ensuring Muslim residents have a meaningful voice in state government.

The endorsement reflects the groups’ assessment of Bottoms’ engagement and policy commitments. The endorsement brings together four organizations representing Muslim communities across Georgia: Peach State Muslim Coalition, Peach State Muslim Action, Voices of Cobb Muslims, and Voices of Muslims.

Fourteen community leaders also signed on to the endorsement. Together, the endorsers are encouraging Muslim voters to participate in the election and support candidates whose policies advance economic fairness, civil rights, diversity and inclusion. Beyond endorsing Bottoms, the coalition called on Georgia Muslims to vote, volunteer and donate to candidates who reflect their policy priorities.

The appeal places voter participation at the center of the announcement, emphasizing that communities can influence public policy. As Georgia’s gubernatorial race develops, the endorsement adds a visible show of support from Muslim civic and community leaders.
