Moments ago, it was announced that the beloved musical is heading back to the stage in Fall 2026 for its first revival with a new director and choreographer.

Five-time Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown has been tapped to lead the new incarnation of the production, bringing fresh vision to the winning musical by Tom Eyen and Henry Krieger.

Casting for the iconic trio, The Dreams, will take place through an international search. Auditions will be held in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Miami, London, Toronto, Mexico City, Amsterdam, Rome, and Paris. According to the producers, talented women of all shapes and sizes are being sought to fill key roles.

‘Dreamgirls’ first debuted on Broadway in 1981, shepherded by Michael Bennett, who took the helm of direction and choreography.

The original production ushered songs like ‘One Night Only’ and the anthemic ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’ into mass consciousness. It earned 13 Tony nominations, scored six wins, and made Jennifer Holliday a Broadway legend.

In 2006, the seismic film adaptation, which starred Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, and Eddie Murphy, hit the big screen.

The Bill Condon-directed extravaganza earned Hudson the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Now, ‘Dreamgiels’ looks poised to wow a whole new audience.
