Peabo Bryson, the GRAMMY-winning singer whose unmistakable voice helped define some of the most beloved ballads of the last four decades, has died.

Full story below…

The news comes just days after reports surfaced that the R&B legend had suffered a stroke and was receiving medical care.

He was 75.

In a statement shared with media outlets, Bryson’s family confirmed that he passed away on June 2 surrounded by loved ones.

“With broken hearts and profound sadness, the family of two-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, and balladeer, Peabo Bryson, announces his passing.”

Across a career spanning decades, the vocalist became one of music’s most celebrated balladeers, earning acclaim for timeless hits such as ‘If Ever You’re In My Arms Again,’ ‘Can You Stop the Rain,’ and ‘Tonight, I Celebrate My Love.’

However, for many listeners, Bryson will forever be remembered as the voice behind two of Disney’s most iconic songs. His duet with Celine Dion, ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ became a global hit in 1991, while his collaboration with Regina Belle, ‘A Whole New World,’ from ‘Aladdin’, soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and made history as the first song from an animated film to top the chart.

The two tracks earned him GRAMMYs and cemented his place in popular culture.

Bryson is survived by his wife, Tanya Boniface Bryson, his son Robert, daughter Linda Bryson, and his grandchildren.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

Rest in peace.
