Lil Nas X is back.

After teasing his return with a moving voicemail from his late mother, the GRAMMY winner has officially unwrapped new single ‘World’s Greatest’ and its deeply personal music video.

Serving as his first single in a year and a half, the release sees Montero turn the lens inward as he reflects on where he’s been and where he’s heading next.

Written entirely by Nas and produced by C.WRAY together with Steve Rusch, ‘Greatest’ pairs its triumphant message with a visual that journeys between the 27-year-old’s past and present.

Directed by Phillip Youmans and filmed in the star’s hometown of Atlanta, the clip revisits his childhood while paralleling those memories with the pressures of his life today.

The poignant offering ultimately circles back to the words of encouragement shared by his late mother:

“Walk by faith, not by sight.”

As reported, Nas announced her passing in August. The loss arrived during an already transformative period for the performer, who shared in June that he was feeling better and creating freely again after an extended period away from the spotlight.

With shock and awe being the star’s oft-trodden terrain, this serves as a refreshing and empowering pivot.
