Who would’ve guessed Queen of Quiet Storm Anita Baker was a royal #Swiftie?

The R&B icon recent stunned her fans when she took to social media to show some sweet love to Taylor Swift, the current champion of both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 with her deluxe reissue of ‘The Life of a Showgirl‘ and its lead single ‘Patient Zero.’

Shortly after the MTV VMAs premiere of Swift’s ‘Zero’ music video, Baker quickly took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to laud the cinematic quality of the visual.

“Masterful storytelling and direction by Taylor Swift,” the legendary songstress tweeted to her 731,000 followers on the platform.

Once another Swiftie caught wind of Anita’s post, the fan praised the R&B diva for her longtime adulation of Taylor – a measure of support the 68-year-old doubled down on in response.

“[I] love her. [She’s a] master of alchemy, turning challeges into progress, evolution, and success. Sometimes she writes about experiences of friends. ‘Patient Zero’ is not about Taylor. Lyrics and guest stars are the clues that everyone is missing in the covert genius of ‘Patient Zero,'” she replied to the fan.

Longtime followers of Swift know this isn’t the first time she and Anita shared a mention.

Taylor – who made headlines earlier this decade for an arduous battle over ownership of her music – praised Baker for championing a similar fight with her label.

Said showdown led to the 8-time GRAMMY-winning R&B diva not only winning back her master recordings but also prompted her to head to the studio to record a new album – a project she is reportedly still hard-at-work on that is slated for a 2027 release.

The LP will mark her first full-length studio effort since 2004’s ‘My Everything.’
