BET is looking to the past and the future as it charts its next chapter.

The network has announced the formation of its first-ever advisory board, bringing together a powerhouse group of cultural leaders, executives, and entertainment icons tasked with helping guide the brand’s evolution.

The inaugural board includes Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, BET founder Bob Johnson, NFL executive Troy Vincent, Lazard president Raymond J. McGuire, and Paramount Skydance executive George Cheeks.

According to BET, the group will serve as both a strategic and cultural sounding board, offering guidance as the network expands its reach while continuing its longstanding mission of championing Black voices and stories.

The move arrives during a period of significant change for the company. Recent months have seen major restructuring under Paramount Skydance, including the decision to fold BET+ content into Paramount+ and the acquisition of Tyler Perry‘s ownership stake in the streaming service.

The announcement also marks a notable homecoming for Johnson, who founded BET in 1980 and later became America’s first Black billionaire after selling the company to Viacom in a landmark deal.

With a mix of entertainment royalty, business leaders, and media executives now in its corner, BET is signaling that it intends to remain a key force in shaping culture for years to come.
