Fans of Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion (affectionately called #Barbz and #Hotties respectively) may have thought the beef between the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ collaborators had cooled since last year, but – as evidenced by a recent social media post from Nicki – it’s poised to heat up again.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (July 8), Minaj shared a recent update regarding Stallion’s highly publicized sexual harassment lawsuit stemming from last year.
“What was the name of that law again???????? Karma’s Law? Touch not my anointed law? Vengeance is the Lord’s law? We give God the glory & he’s only just begun. Have a blessed day if you can. lol the blogs posting lies, thank you. More money for me. We’re working. Trust,” she posted to her 225 million followers on the platform.
Ouch! The “law” jab Minaj is referencing was popularized in ‘Hiss’ – Stallion’s chart-topping diss against the Harajuku Barbie.
For context, Meg (born Megan Pete) was sued by a former videographer and photographer named Emilio Garcia who claimed he was forced to witness the ‘Big Ole Freak’ beauty have sex with another woman in June 2022.
Saying he “was embarrassed, mortified and offended throughout the whole ordeal,” Garcia also claims he suffered profound emotional distress from a “barrage of relentless sexual and fat-shaming comments” and that she created a hostile work environment.
What’s more, Emilio says after he complained to Roc Nation about wages and bookings, he was fired and consequently “grapples with mounting anxiety, depression, and physical distress stemming from the toxic work environment, compounded by the trauma of unpaid work.”
Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, labeled the lawsuit extortionate.
“This is an employment claim for money, with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court,” he relayed.
Garcia is represented by Ron Zambrano, who took to press at the time of the lawsuit’s filing to slam Stallion.
“[She] just needs to pay our client what he’s due, own up to her behavior and quit this sort of sexual harassment and fat shaming conduct,” adding, “Emilio should never have been put in a position of having to be in the vehicle with her while she had sex with another woman. ‘Inappropriate’ is putting it lightly. Exposing this behavior to employees is definitely illegal.”
Although Meg’s team attempted to get the suit dismissed, this week they learned their request was denied after a federal judge ruled that Garcia’s claims of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment are sufficient to continue litigation.
