Tragedy struck a Mello Buckzz event.

 The rising star celebrating the release of her new album ‘Hollyhood’ in Chicago when an SUV opened fire at the venue claiming 4 lives and injuring 14.

The mass shooting occurred on Wednesday night (July 2) at the Artis Lounge, after fans were leaving Buckzz’s album release party. At least 4 of the 14 injured are in critical to serious condition, and ages range from 21 to 32 years old.

This morning (July 3), the Chicago rapper expressed her feelings on the deadly shooting. She says:

“Prayers up for all my sisters god please wrap yo arms around every last one of them. We need u i need u ngl im f*cked up. feel like everything just weighing down on me. Feel like everything just weighing down on me… All I can do is talk to god and pray.”

Also, the ‘Move’ femcee is mourning the loss of her boyfriend and 3 of her closest friends, who were 4 fatalities of the shooting.

A witness to the shooting, Pastor Donovan Price, described the chaos of the scene. He states:

“The worst, the worst I’ve seen. People wanting to find their other people, find who was alive, finding who was you know where their phones were because they dropped them in the chaos, so they couldn’t even call, or couldn’t even find their car keys. It’s, it’s something that you wouldn’t expect to find in the city, we have a lot of shootings, but nothing, nothing like this.”

This isn’t the first time a mass shooting has happened at this venue. Back in 2022, when it was named Hush nightclub, a shooting broke out then where one person was killed and 3 others wounded. The police shutdown the club after the fact.

Police have yet to confirm any arrests made in the shooting, but they’re looking for 3 shooters.
