Chart Check [Billboard 200]: 21 Savage Keeps Nearly 10-Year Top 10 Streak Intact with #3 Debut of ‘What Happened to the Streets’

Despite industry analysts prediction 21 Savage‘s December 12-released album ‘What Happened to the Streets‘ would roll on to debut in the lower half of the Billboard 200’s top 10, the GRAMMY winner has managed to defeat the odds thanks to the star-studded set featuring the likes of Drake, GloRilla, Latto, and more.

Besting industry analyst predictions by nearly 20,000 units, ‘Streets’ premiered at #3 on the updated Billboard 200.

The week’s highest debut, here are the numbers that powered the placement.

  • First-Week Sales (SPS) = 73,000
  • First-Week Sales (Pure) = 25,000

Beyond being available in 21’s web store in five variants, ‘Streets’ was also offered to fans via a 14-track download and streaming edition as well as a digital download-only version.

Despite the wide availability, however, ‘Streets’ still marks Savage’s lowest first-week sales to date among his solo studio albums.

See how the project stacks up compared to its predecessors.

  • 2017’s ‘Issa Album’ (77,000 sold first week)
  • 2018’s ‘I Am > I Was’ (131,000 sold first week)
  • 2024’s ‘American Dream‘ (133,000 sold first week)

Arguably, the most noteworthy win comes courtesy of ‘Streets’ helping keep Savage’s top 5 streak intact.

In fact, he hasn’t missed the all-genre chart’s top 10 since ‘Savage Mode‘ peaked at #23 in 2016 – having placed 7 consecutive titles in the chart region in the time since.
