Billie Eilish Interviewed by SZA, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, & More for British Vogue’s May 2025 Issue

Billie Eilish may be busy rocking global stages aboard her hotly selling ‘Hit Me Hard & Soft Tour,’ but the GRAMMY and OSCAR winner still found time to grace the pages of May’s ‘British Vogue.’

With famed photographer Johnny Dufort behind the lens, Eilish posed it up while donning designer duds from Ferragamo, Chanel, Moschino, Balenciaga, and more.

Unlike most celebrity appearances in the fashion mag, however, the accompanying feature article was a compilation of questions submitted by Billie’s chart-topping peers including Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Ariana Grande, SZA, Nicki Minaj, and more.

Hop inside to see highlights from the interview.

Chappell Roan: “Fun question: people are curious why you don’t wear long nails anymore. Care to explain?”

Billie: “Hello, you. OK, well, God, I love having long nails so much but I can’t play any instruments with them. I love to pick up a guitar or play piano when at home or on tour and I just can’t do that when I have insanely long nails. I pop some on every now and then though. I miss them so much. Love you, Chappell. Thank you for asking.”

Ariana Grande: “What makes you happiest?”

Billie: “Hi, Ari! You know what my answer is to this one: dopamine. [Laughs.] I love activities. I love doing stuff. I can’t be stagnant. That’s what really makes me happy, things that make me feel activated and stimulated and alive. So… anything that involves dopamine.”

Sabrina Carpenter: “What’s your gas station order?”

Billie: “Oh my God, Sabrina, hi. I love these questions. I don’t hit the gas stations that much anymore because I drive an electric car but I’ll always, always get gum. I’ll buy gum anytime I see it. Good old spearmint. Never fruity, never a bubblegum. Disgusting. Also a Monster energy drink… hehe.”

Nicki Minaj: “Was there ever a time in your career, or before you made it, when you wished people couldn’t see you [for your beauty] and that they could only hear the music, and really get a chance to just listen to the written words?”

Billie: “Nicki, this question made me tear up a little. Well… like you said at the beginning of that question, I’ve never really felt very beautiful or seen myself in that way, so I definitely never struggled with the idea that it would overshadow anything, since I didn’t even really see it myself. I’ve had to really convince myself that I am beautiful. Being a woman is hard.”

SZA: “What are your dreams like? What’s the last nightmare you had? Do you ever have premonitions?”

Billie: “I love you, SZA! I definitely do have premonitions in my dreams, which, of course, then makes every bad dream horrifying because I’m scared that it’s all a sign. The last nightmare I had: well this wasn’t a nightmare, but I had a whole dream about this burrito that I wanted so bad and I was at this taco truck, and I was waiting and waiting, and then they couldn’t make them, and then they couldn’t remember which burrito was mine… this went on and on. And I never got my burrito! It was so upsetting. I woke up so hungry and needing it so bad I literally got out of bed and drove like 45 minutes to like the best vegan spot in LA called El Cocinero in Van Nuys – one of my-all time favorite spots – and got enough food for like 12 people. So that’s not a nightmare. But it definitely was enough to make me change my whole day plan because of it.”
