Aja Naomi King is heading to a town with a chilling catch: its residents do not age or die, and leaving is not an option.

The actress has joined Prime Video’s ‘Stillwater’ as a series regular, taking on the role of Sheriff Tanya Green in the upcoming horror thriller.

According to Deadline, King will play the community’s formidable enforcer. There is a wrinkle in her authority, however: Tanya is an outsider who was only recently invited into Stillwater and appointed sheriff by its powerful judge.

The nature of their connection remains a mystery, giving her character a place inside the town’s power structure without the same history as its other residents.

Adapted from the Skybound graphic novel, the eight-episode series follows ex-con Daniel West. A letter promising an inheritance and answers about his past draws him to Stillwater, where the prospect of a fresh start comes with extraordinary complications.

For King, the casting follows her turn in ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society,’ another series built around secrets beneath an apparently ordinary community.

This role places her on the enforcement side of that equation. The sheriff’s badge may signal authority, but her unusual arrival leaves plenty to uncover.

A premiere date has not been announced in the casting coverage.
