Police say six juveniles were among those wounded in the shooting near Bragg Memorial Stadium following FAMU’s homecoming game.

A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a shooting that wounded 11 people near Florida A&M University’s football stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. The teenager faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a delinquent, Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell announced Monday.

The shooting occurred Saturday night, October 24, on Perry Street, behind Bragg Memorial Stadium, just hours after the university’s homecoming football game. No deaths had been reported, and police said the investigation remained active, with additional arrests possible. According to CNN, six juveniles, including an 11-year-old child, were among the people wounded, according to police. A grandmother of one of the victims was also injured while fleeing the scene.

By Sunday morning, five of the people who had been shot had been released from the hospital, while six remained hospitalized. One of those still receiving treatment was in critical condition. Chief Revell said investigators believe a physical altercation involving people who knew one another preceded the gunfire. At this stage, police do not believe any of the victims were the intended targets.

Authorities have not established a connection between the shooting and the football game or the university’s homecoming celebrations. The violence occurred after a week of homecoming activities at Florida A&M University, a historically Black university, or HBCU, with nearly 10,000 students. The Rattlers hosted the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions at Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Arkansas-Pine Bluff won the game 31–28 before the shooting occurred nearby later that evening.

The incident has renewed concerns about gun violence surrounding large gatherings and campus celebrations. According to the Gun Violence Archive figures cited by CNN, the United States had recorded at least 383 mass shootings in 2026 at the time of the report. Florida A&M President Marva Johnson expressed sadness and anger over the shooting, offering support to injured members of the university community and their families. “To our Rattler family and our surrounding Tallahassee community, I share your outrage and profound sadness at the senseless and despicable shooting that took place near our FAMU campus last night,” Johnson said in a statement.

Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey also described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy and said the wider community stood with the university. Police have asked anyone with information, photographs or videos related to the shooting to contact investigators through the department’s tip line or evidence-submission portal.
