Halle Berry responded to Zendaya’s Halloween recreation of her 2000 “X-Men” premiere outfit with two words: “She won.”
Zendaya may have just won Halloween, and she has Halle Berry’s stamp of approval to prove it.
The actress teamed up with her longtime stylist Law Roach, to create one of the most memorable Halle Berry red carpet looks of all time, the outfit she wore to the July 2000 premiere of “X-Men.”
According to For The Win, Berry caught wind of the tribute and couldn’t help but show her appreciation. Responding to a side-by-side photo of herself and Zendaya on social media, the Oscar winner kept her reaction short and sweet.
“She won,” Berry wrote, adding a sparkle emoji.
Zendaya recreated Berry’s daring look, pairing a string bikini top with flared pants, right down to the details. More than 25 years later, the outfit still makes a statement, and Zendaya’s homage introduced the iconic fashion moment to a new generation.
The original look dates back to a pivotal moment in Berry’s career. She was making her debut as Storm in the first “X-Men” film, bringing one of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes to the big screen. Just two years later, she would make history as the first Black woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in “Monster’s Ball.”

For Zendaya, the costume was another opportunity to celebrate a fashion moment that helped define an era. With Roach behind the styling, the Emmy-winning actress has become known for memorable red carpet looks that often pay homage to Hollywood history.
But this particular tribute carried an extra layer of meaning. Berry helped pave the way for Black actresses to become leading ladies in blockbuster franchises, and Zendaya has followed in her footsteps, building a career that spans film, television and fashion.
And while plenty of celebrities pulled out all the stops for Halloween this year, Zendaya proved that sometimes all it takes is a little fashion history and the right inspiration to make a lasting impression.
As for Berry, her two-word endorsement says it all.
