In a new sit-down with CBS’s Gayle King, Telisha Jones, the creator of viral A.I. sensation Xania Monet, opened up about how she brought one of music’s most talked-about digital artists to life.

With artificial intelligence reshaping the music industry, Xania Monet has become the face of the movement.

According to Billboard, Monet is the first known A.I. artist to earn enough radio airplay to debut on a Billboard radio chart.

During the interview, Jones explained her creative process, revealing that she often starts with poetry.

“I scroll through my list of poems to see which one I want to turn into a song,

Then I put the lyrics into an A.I. music generator, add prompts like ‘slow tempo R&B,’ ‘female soulful vocals,’ ‘light guitar,’ and ‘heavy drums, ’ and then I just click create.”

While Xania Monet’s rise has sparked controversy about the role of A.I. in music, with producers like Timbaland receiving backlash for using A.I. to create music, Jones insists her goal isn’t to replace artists but to explore new creative possibilities.
