‘She makes me better’: Karl-Anthony Towns shares what Jordyn Woods means to him as they prepare to tie the knot

Towns proposed to the designer and influencer last Christmas and their bond became a heartwarming subplot on the Knicks’ journey to an elusive NBA title.

As long as Jordyn Woods has been by his side, NBA champion Karl-Anthony Towns hasn’t hesitated to express how much she’s changed his life for the better.

In a conversation with The New York Times for “The Interview” podcast, Towns reflected on what Woods has taught him about navigating life as a public figure and how their relationship was built from the ground up.

“I guess you could say a relationship in Hollywood hasn’t lasted as long as ours,” KAT told host David Marchese around the 16-minute mark. “That’s just kind of not the norm. And then we found ourselves finding each other at the foundational level of just being friends for years.”

KAT added, “She’s taught me so much about myself and things I had to work on myself that I maybe I wasn’t willing to work on or I didn’t recognize. And she makes me better all around, you know? And also just made me better with patience as well.”

The couple has been together for over five years but took their relationship to another level last December, when Towns got down on one knee and proposed to Woods shortly after the Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas Day at Madison Square Garden. Towns opted for an emerald-cut diamond ring estimated at over 10 carats to present to his bride-to-be.

“I wanted her to have a ring that shows that bond and relationship that we’ve built,” he shared with late-night host Seth Meyers in January. “And yeah, I want everyone to know she’s mine.”

Woods became an integral part of the Knicks’ run to the NBA title, sporting a lucky handbag that became a totem tied to the Knicks success. Every time Woods brought the bag to root for Towns and the team courtside, they didn’t lose.

“The story behind it is I made the bag for my brand, Woods by Jordyn, as a sample. I knew I wanted to make it for the playoffs, but I didn’t know that once I started wearing the bag, we would win 12 games in a row,” she told Conde Nast Traveler last month. “I became superstitious about everything. I have to stick to the same routine I used whenever we win. It’s been 41 days—now 42 days!—since we have lost, and I have not changed a single thing. I’ve had San Antonio fans asking me if I brought the bag. I didn’t know how impactful this bag was! I didn’t know people really were paying attention that much!”

Now, as the couple is doubled up on rings, Towns told Marchese, wedding bells are “incoming.”
