Ryan Coogler is officially bringing ‘The X-Files’ back to television!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu has officially ordered Coogler’s reimagining of the beloved sci-fi drama to series, following its initial pilot green light in February.

The new incarnation stars Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel as two vastly different FBI agents who form an unlikely partnership after being assigned to a long-shuttered division investigating unexplained phenomena.

Coogler wrote and directed the pilot, with Jennifer Yale serving as showrunner. Original series creator Chris Carter is also aboard as an executive producer.

As That Grape Juice reported, the filmmaker first began developing a more diverse take on the franchise, which originally starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as iconic investigators Mulder and Scully.

The series pickup marks another major win for Coogler, whose supernatural blockbuster ‘Sinners’ made history at the 2026 BAFTA Awards.

The new cast also includes Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi, Ben Foster, and Devery Jacobs in guest roles.

A premiere date has yet to be announced, while the potential involvement of Duchovny and Anderson has not been confirmed.
