Roc Nation Sports is reportedly arranging a December trip to Spain for 3-year-old soccer sensation Nevada Pierre to support his athletic development after a viral Florida youth soccer incident brought national attention to the young player and his family.
According to Complex Sports, citing The Breakfast Club’s Loren LoRosa, Roc Nation Sports plans to send Nevada to Spain in December for an athletic development experience. The reported opportunity comes days after police responded to a dispute involving Nevada’s family and officials at a youth soccer game in Winter Park, Florida. The potential trip could give the young player access to new soccer development opportunities as his family explores ways to nurture his talent.
Roc Nation Sports, the sports management division of JAY-Z’s Roc Nation, represents athletes across multiple sports, including soccer stars such as Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior. The agency has publicly expressed support for Nevada, commenting on social media: “Keep shining Nevada, we support you!” The reported Spain trip follows discussions by Nevada’s parents, Martasia Griffin and Don Pierre, about potentially taking their son overseas to further develop his soccer skills.
Former U.S. men’s national team player Eddie Johnson has also offered to help train Nevada through his Orlando-based EJE7 Soccer Academy. Nevada became the focus of national attention after a youth soccer game on October 24 ended with police responding to a dispute involving his parents and league officials. Videos shared by the family showed Nevada dribbling past older children and scoring goals. His parents argued that their son was being unfairly targeted because of his ability.
However, the circumstances surrounding the police response are disputed. According to the Winter Park Police Department, officers were called after a league official reported a disturbance involving Nevada’s parents and league staff. His mother disputed the characterization of the family’s conduct. The controversy has prompted widespread online discussion about how young athletes are treated in competitive youth sports.
