Ben reportedly skipped exam preparation to join the search and became the first eligible participant to reach IShowSpeed.

A nursing student identified only as Ben found IShowSpeed’s hiding spot in New York City on Wednesday and was presented with an oversized check for $250,000. The streamer, who spent part of this year on a tour across Africa and performed at the World Cup closing ceremony, hosted the search as the finale of a Dr. Squatch prize campaign.

Ben reached the rooftop location on Oct. 28 after searching for a little over an hour, HypeFresh reported. In footage of their meeting, IShowSpeed initially joked that the contest was a prank before telling Ben, “You just won $250,000! Congratulations, bro! You found me,” as confetti fell.

Participants followed GPS coordinate digits revealed gradually during the livestream. Five costumed Dr. Squatch characters stationed around the city carried additional numbers that could help viewers narrow down the hiding place. The first eligible participant to reach the streamer would win the grand prize.

The scavenger hunt was scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern, but Ben found the location well before the three-hour window ended. HypeFresh reported that the winner was studying nursing, had around $2,000 in his bank account and had skipped exam preparation to join the search. His last name and school have not been publicly confirmed.

The competition capped Dr. Squatch’s nine-week “Speedrun: Million Dollar Mission” campaign, which offered $1 million in total prizes through 25 challenges across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. The brand announced the promotion in August, with earlier challenges involving hidden soap-filled briefcases, social media missions and scratch-off tickets.
