Charlamagne tha God is pushing back against claims that Hot 97’s “Mornings with Mero” has beaten “The Breakfast Club” in radio ratings over the past three months. Speaking on the Monday, October 19, broadcast, Charlamagne credited New York City listeners and said his show remained number one in several key age demographics.

The exchange follows a public dispute involving co-hosts Mero and Kazeem “Kaz” Famuyide and Hot 97 management, adding another chapter to the competition between two prominent New York hip-hop radio stations. Famuyide, a co-host of Mornings with Mero, made the claim during a heated October 14 discussion about working at Hot 97. He criticized the station’s leadership and described it as the worst place he had worked.

Famuyide also said his show had beaten “The Breakfast Club” and Power 105 despite operating with significantly fewer resources. Charlamagne disputed that assertion on air, saying The Breakfast Club had never been beaten by the competing program. He also said he had spoken with Famuyide and executive producer Jayson Rodriguez about the matter.

According to Complex, Power 105.1 recorded a 3.1 Average Quarter Hour Share in September 2026, compared with Hot 97’s 2.3. The figures measure each station’s share of radio listening during an average 15-minute period. Charlamagne also cited the 18–34, 18–49 and 25–54 age groups, saying “The Breakfast Club” ranked number one in those demographics. However, comparisons depend on the market, time period, audience demographic and specific ratings measurement being used.

The September station figures alone do not independently verify every claim about the shows’ performance over the preceding three months. Famuyide joined Hot 97 in January 2026 as a co-host of “Mornings with Mero,” led by comedian and media personality The Kid Mero. The program replaced “Ebro in the Morning” after Hot 97 parted ways with longtime hosts Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez in December 2025. “The Breakfast Club,” meanwhile, has aired since 2010 and is nationally syndicated. Its current hosts are Charlamagne tha God, DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious.
