The “Presidential Barbie” used the moment to spotlight what she described as the urgent and “heartbreaking” persecution of Christians in Nigeria, an issue she says she could not ignore.

She shared in her speech:

“Faith is under attack in way too many places. In Nigeria, Churches have been burned, families have been torn apart, and entire communities live in fear constantly, simply because of how they pray. targeted, driven from their homes, and killed.

Sadly, this problem is not only a growing problem in Nigeria, but also in so many other countries across the world.”

Though the event was bipartisan, Minaj acknowledged and thanked President Donald Trump’s “Amazing leadership” on the issue.
