The 23-year-old singer released ‘The Cure’ as the second single from her upcoming third album. The track follows the upbeat ‘Drop Dead,’ which debuted at #1.

‘The Cure’ runs for five minutes. The song starts with fast acoustic strumming reminiscent of Smashing Pumpkins or Foo Fighters. It builds slowly before reaching a powerful climax.

The music video, directed by Cat Solen and Jamie Gerin, features Rodrigo as an old-school nurse running experiments. Body-horror imagery includes organs turning from red to grey and the singer bleeding red yarn.

Rodrigo collaborated again with producer Dan Nigro. The track balances rock intensity without relying too heavily on electric guitars.

The single suggests a maturity in Rodrigo’s songwriting. Rather than revenge-pop-punk, she explores a relationship that seemed healthy but still ended in disappointment.

Her upcoming album carries the title ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl in Love.’ The project appears to follow a relationship arc from bliss (‘Drop Dead’) to complication (‘The Cure’).
