Fans are going to have to wait a little longer for ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith,’ as it’s been announced that production on Season 2 has been pushed back indefinitely.

The Donald Glover–led series was originally set to begin filming in the fall, relocating to Los Angeles for its sophomore season. The Prime Video project received a $22.4 million tax credit from the California Film Commission.

According to the commission’s rules, production must begin within 18 months of receiving the credit, which was awarded at the end of March.

Complicating matters further, Glover’s co-creator Francesca Sloane has signed an overall deal with HBO and is also developing a third season of ‘Big Little Lies’. Sloane was slated to return as showrunner for Season 2.

The first season starred the ‘Redbone’ singer alongside Maya Erskine.

Interestingly, for the show’s sophomore run, Glover and Erskine were to pass the baton on to new leads Mark Eydelshteyn and Sophie Thatcher. Glover was to stay on as an executive producer.

At this time, no further details have been announced for the second season. And with no date set, many are wondering if there will be one.
