Marvin Sapp signs with Roc Nation Distribution for new gospel album ‘Restoration’

The gospel icon’s upcoming project marks Roc Nation Distribution’s first full-length gospel album.

More than three decades into one of gospel music’s most influential careers, Marvin Sapp is making another major move. The 11-time Grammy-nominated singer has partnered with Roc Nation Distribution ahead of the release of “Restoration,” his 17th studio album and ninth live recording. The project is expected to arrive this fall and will become Roc Nation Distribution’s first full-length gospel album.

According to Billboard, the partnership represents more than a business deal. It reflects growing recognition that gospel music remains one of the foundations of Black culture, faith and musical innovation. Sapp said the decision was about finding a partner that shared his vision.

“More than thirty years into my journey as an artist, every partnership I enter must be rooted in purpose, shared vision and mutual respect,” Sapp told Billboard. He added that Roc Nation Distribution’s collaborative approach made the partnership feel like the right next step.

The album’s lead single, “He’s Not Finished,” will be released on Aug. 21. Sapp co-wrote the song with acclaimed songwriter Stan Jones, while longtime collaborator Curtis Lindsey also helped shape the project. Roc Nation Distribution President Krystian Santini praised Sapp’s lasting impact on gospel music, saying the company looks forward to building a long-term relationship with the artist.

The partnership also continues Roc Nation Distribution’s expansion into gospel music. Producer Stanley Brown, who helped broker the agreement, said the goal is to build a credible and lasting presence in the genre while honoring artists who have shaped Black music for generations. Sapp remains one of gospel’s most celebrated voices. During his career, he has earned five No. 1 Gospel Albums and helped bring gospel music to mainstream audiences with classics like “Never Would Have Made It,” one of the genre’s biggest crossover hits.

Gospel music has long been a cornerstone of Black culture and storytelling. Marvin Sapp’s partnership with Roc Nation Distribution signals continued investment in the genre.
