LAPD detain trespassing suspect at property reportedly connected to Nia Long after burglary call

Officers responding to a reported break-in found no evidence of a burglary or attempted burglary, according to the LAPD.

A late-night police response at a Hollywood Hills property reportedly connected to actress Nia Long ended without any evidence of a break-in, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities said officers responded to the residence at about 9:45 p.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a possible burglary in progress. However, after arriving at the scene and conducting their investigation, police determined there was no evidence that a burglary or attempted burglary had taken place.

NBC Los Angeles, citing the Los Angeles Police Department, reported that officers instead detained a man for trespassing at the property. Police also indicated they believe the individual may be experiencing a mental health disorder.

The LAPD has not released the man’s identity or said whether any criminal charges are expected. Officials also declined to provide additional details about what led to the initial emergency call or how long the man had been on the property before officers arrived.

While the residence has been reportedly connected to actress Nia Long, neither the actress nor her representatives have publicly commented on the incident as of Sunday evening. Police likewise have not indicated whether anyone was inside the home at the time officers responded.

The incident appears to have been resolved without injuries or signs of forced entry, shifting what initially began as a suspected burglary investigation into a trespassing matter.

Long, an award-winning actress known for films including “Love Jones,” “The Best Man” franchise and “Boyz n the Hood,” most recently portrayed Katherine Jackson in the blockbuster Michael Jackson biopic, “Michael.”
