After being benched amid a firestorm for remarks made about Charlie Kirk,  ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ drew 6.3 million viewers on Tuesday night (September 23), marking a huge return for the late-night host.

The win is even more notable given that the show remains unavailable in over 20% of U.S. households due to Nexstar and Sinclair still refusing to air the show. Both opted to preempt in the markets they preside over.

As reported, Kimmel addressed the ratings discourse head-on in his opening monologue, directly citing critics, including President Donald Trump, who claimed the show had “no ratings” during its brief hiatus.

He said:

“Well, I do tonight! You almost have to feel sorry for [Trump]. He tried his best to cancel me. Instead, he forced millions of people to watch the show. That backfired bigly. He might have to release the Epstein files to distract us from this now.”
