‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ has been sensationally canned “indefinitely” after the host’s remarks about the killing of Charlie Kirk sparked backlash with a key distributor.

Moments ABC, which airs the long-running night talker, confirmed that it will be “pre-empted indefinitely.”

The move comes after affiliate entity, Nexstar, which is one of the biggest distributors of the show across the US, took umbrage with comments Jimmy Kimmel made about Kirk’s assassination.

As widely reported, the 31-year-old right-wing political activist was gunned down during an event at Utah Valley University.

What Did Jimmy Kimmel Say About Charlie Kirk?

During the opening monologue of his show, Kimmel said:

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Why Has ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Been Pulled?

In the wake of the remarks, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair Brendan Carr reportedly threatened to take action against ABC affiliates in the wake of Kimmel suggesting the shooting suspect, Tyler Robinson, was a MAGA Republican.

Speaking on a podcast, Carr is quoted as saying:

“Listen, we’re not going to run Kimmel anymore until you straighten this out because we’re running the possibility of license revocation from the FCC if we continue to run content that ends up being a pattern of news distortion.”

In the aftermath, Nexstar issued a statement, stressing that they would not air ‘Kimmel’ nor for the foreseeable future.

Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said:

“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located. Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”

Now, it appears, the snowball effect has seen Kimmel taken off air.

With that, what are…
