Teyana Taylor is stepping into her lookalike era, channeling none other than Janet Jackson for PEOPLE’s World’s Most Beautiful issue.

The newly Golden Globe-winning star opened up about her lifelong admiration for Janet, revealing that her inspiration started at a young age.

Teyana spilled:

 “Back when I was about 9 years old, I found the DVD of Janet’s ultra-sexy 1998–1999 ‘Velvet Rope’ tour… I had no business watching it.

But when I saw it, oh my God. I knew what I wanted to do when I got older. I knew I wanted to be an artist.”

For the shoot, Teyana recreated one of Janet’s most iconic looks, a military-inspired cream number  worn during the ‘Janet’ World Tour

Janet’s influence is something Teyana carries with her onstage as well, with fans often noting the unmistakable “Janet Jackson flair” in her performances and creative direction.

After the shoot dropped, Janet herself even responded, sharing a video praising the look and giving Teyana her flowers
