Eddie Murphy is getting the special treatment for his life achievement award. For, it’s been announced that his AFI Life Achievement tribute will be streaming on Netflix.

This is a big move for the AFI because. traditionally, they typically air the Life Achievement Special on TBS and TNT. So, this will be the first time in its history that it will be on a streaming platform.

AFI has collaborated with digital platforms before through initiatives like AFI Fest.

The ‘Coming To America’ actor is receiving this honor to recognize his immense box office success and influence across comedy and film. He will be the fourth Black recipient to receive this honor, following Sidney Poitier, Morgan Freeman, and Denzel Washington.

The tribute itself will be held live at the Dolby Theatre on April 18. There, Murphy will be celebrated by his peers, collaborators, and industry figures.
