Shortly ahead of celebrating her 40th birthday, Cici turned up at the ‘Joe & Jada’ podcast to dish on ageism in the industry and how icons like Tina Turner defied the odds.

She said:

“We talk about age and getting older, but for some reason right now I feel like I’m in my best pocket the way I remember routines are different, like my wisdom is different.” 

Elsewhere in the discussion, Ciara reflected on her career-at-large – speaking about how her decision to go independent marked a new era of creative control and empowerment in her life.

She also touched on her latest project, ‘CiCi’, released in August, which showcases her continued evolution as an artist and performer:

“I asked for my masters back and they gave them away to me for free, they didn’t believe me in like that, but now Level Up has gone four times platinum.” 

The conversation also dived into Ciara’s circle of powerhouse friendships, including her close relationships with Kim Kardashian and La La Anthony, and how those bonds have supported her journey through fame and motherhood.

She credited Michael and Janet Jackson as lifelong inspirations for her artistry and dancing, even playfully weighing in on who might win in a dream dance-off between herself, Chris Brown, Usher, Normani, and Teyana Taylor.
