Busta Rhymes is making headlines after settling a major legal battle.

According to court documents, the legendary rapper has agreed to pay his former assistant Dashiel Gables $25,000 to resolve competing lawsuits over wages and workplace misconduct.

Gables – who worked as Busta’s personal assistant from summer 2024 until January 2025 – claims he often put in 15-18 hour days while earning a flat $200 daily rate. His federal complaint alleged improper compensation for overtime.

Dashiel also claimed Rhymes punched him last January during a confrontation in Brooklyn after an argument involving work duties and his cell phone. The ‘What’s It Gonna Be’ hitamker reportedly turned himself in and received a desk appearance ticket for misdemeanour assault. He consistently denied the allegations, calling them fabricated.

The former assistant initially sought roughly $6 million for the alleged unpaid wages and abusive treatment.

Busta countersued, accusing Gables of spreading false claims that damaged his reputation and cost him business opportunities. Nether side admits wrongdoing under the settlement.

The agreement calls for two $12,500 payments. One will be treated as wages, while the second covers the remaining claims. Gables must also return private work materials.

A federal judge still needs to approve the wage portion of the deal, and the case will close without trial once the payments are made.
