Queen of Quiet Storm Anita Baker ignited quite the royal response from Ari Lennox recently after taking to social media to suggest she is open to collaborating with the young R&B diva on a future project.

On Sunday (February 1), GRAMMY-winning Jazz and R&B star Robert Glasper was quizzed on the GRAMMY Awards’ red carpet about his collaboration wishlist.

“I think Ari Lennox would be good, bringing her into the Jazz world. I think Anita Baker would be great because she never fully went [into Jazz], but I think she could,” he told the reporter.

Once word of Glasper’s comments reached the desk of Baker, she quickly took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to respond.

“[I’m] in the studio now; come on thru. Bring Ms. Ari,” Anita posted in a tweet that garnered over 500,000 views.

Didn’t take long for fans to get the news to Ari who promptly replied with gratitude.

“My goodness, Anita Baker. I would be absolutely honored, beautiful and amazing legend! And, Robert Glasper how dare you always be so sweet and cool like this. Thank you,” Lennox shared to Instagram Stories on Monday (February 2).

The mention is a timely one as Baker is reportedly working on her seventh studio album for release later this year.

Serving as the follow-up to 2004’s ‘My Everything,’ only time will tell if Ari lands a feature on the long-awaited project.
