Jay-Z‘s former accuser has now formally recanted the sexual assault allegations she levelled against the Hip-Hop mogul.

And this time, the reversal has been put in writing in federal court.

The Jane Doe, who previously accused Jay of raping her alongside Diddy when she was 13, has declared under penalty of perjury that she has never even met the Roc Nation titan.

In a 12-page declaration filed in Manhattan federal court on September 24, the woman stated:

“Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever.

There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter. I understand my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone.”

According to Rolling Stone, Doe also stressed that she was not promised or paid compensation in exchange for the declaration.

Her current attorney, James Blair Newman Jr., said his client maintains that she was the victim of a sexual assault, but was “entirely mistaken” in identifying Carter and has “sincerely and unconditionally” apologized to him and his family.

The development marks a significant new chapter in a saga That Grape Juice has covered extensively.

As reported, Doe’s original case was voluntarily dismissed with prejudice in February 2025. Jay subsequently launched legal action against Doe and attorney Tony Buzbee, alleging malicious prosecution and other claims.

Doe has now been dismissed as a defendant from Carter’s ongoing New York action. His case against Buzbee and the other lawyers involved continues.

The latest filing carries added weight because an earlier recorded conversation, released in March 2025, appeared to capture Doe saying Jay did not assault her. At the time, however, Buzbee disputed the context and maintained that she stood by her allegations.

For his part, Jay has been unequivocal from day one. Earlier this year, he spoke candidly about the toll the accusation took on him and his family, revealing that the ordeal left him with “uncontrollable anger.”
