With “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and “The Odyssey” topping theaters, the coupled stars could challenge the record for the highest-grossing year by an actor.
Zendaya and Tom Holland are on track to become one of Hollywood’s most successful power couples at the global box office. With “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and “The Odyssey” dominating theaters, the married stars could challenge long-standing box office records before the year ends. They have already earned a combined more than $1.8 billion worldwide in just weeks after release.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” opened to an impressive $927 million globally during its debut weekend, while “The Odyssey” has surpassed $911 million after just over two weeks in theaters. The success has fueled speculation that the couple could finish 2026 as the highest-grossing actors of any single year in Hollywood history. Zendaya’s blockbuster run isn’t over. She already scored another hit this year with A24’s “The Drama” and is expected to return in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three” later this year, another film projected to perform strongly at the global box office.
Holland could also add to his record-breaking year if he appears in Marvel’s highly anticipated “Avengers: Doomsday,” although his role has not been officially confirmed. The Independent noted that the current single-year box office record belongs to Samuel L. Jackson, whose films collectively earned $6.4 billion worldwide in 2019. Zendaya and Holland’s current trajectory has industry watchers wondering whether either star, or both together, could surpass that milestone before 2026 comes to a close.
Fans have also embraced the couple’s growing public profile. Since confirming their marriage earlier this year, Zendaya’s red carpet fashion moments and Holland’s support for his wife have continued to generate viral attention. This has added even more momentum to two of Hollywood’s most bankable stars.
Zendaya and Tom Holland’s record-breaking year also highlights how established actors can still drive global audiences to theaters during an era increasingly dominated by streaming entertainment.
