During an appearance on HOT 97’s ‘Nessa On Air,’ the rapper opened up about the inspiration behind the deeply personal record, which features on her newly released solo album, ‘Watch Dis!‘
Miami shared:
“I cried making ‘Dear JT,’ and I cried making ‘Ride for You,’
Describing JT as someone she grew up with and built her career alongside, the femcee stressed that their shared history would always mean something to her, regardless of where their relationship stands today. She explained:
“I’m never gonna forget what we started. This is how I feel right now. I don’t know how I feel next year. I don’t know how I feel in 2028. Let me address it now because this is what’s on my heart.”
Miami also confirmed that she did not share the track with JT before its release and has yet to hear from her former group mate.
The rapper further emphasised that life is too short to leave unresolved issued unaddressed and remains open to a conversation. She said:
“We don’t gotta be how we used to, but it don’t have to be a point to where we never speak again.”
The pair’s relationship became stained as they pursued different paths, with Miami previously citing creative difference and being in different place in their lives. Their tensions also spilled onto social media in 2024, when the rappers exchanged words over alleged sneak disses.
While a reunion remains uncertain, Miami’s candid conversation makes clear that the bond they once shared still holds meaning for her.
