The personal track looks back on their rise together while acknowledging how much their relationship has changed.

Yung Miami is addressing her complicated relationship with former City Girls partner JT through music. On “Dear JT,” a personal track from her debut solo album “Watch Dis!,” released Friday, October 23, the rapper looks back on their journey from struggling together to achieving success as one of hip-hop’s recognizable female rap duos.

According to a report by REVOLT, the song acknowledges the distance between the two artists while reflecting on the friendship that existed before fame. Yung Miami also describes their public disagreement as embarrassing, offering listeners a more personal perspective on the split. On “Dear JT,” Yung Miami recalls the early days of their partnership, including their struggles before City Girls became successful.

She also references JT’s incarceration on credit-card fraud-related charges and the support she says she provided during that period. The track acknowledges that their relationship has changed, with Yung Miami admitting they are no longer seeing eye to eye. Despite the tension, she refers to JT as a friend, suggesting that the history they share remains significant even as their professional relationship has deteriorated.

The song marks a notable moment for Yung Miami, who is addressing their fallout directly in her music after years of interviews and public exchanges. The strain between the rappers became more visible after City Girls released their 2023 album, “RAW.” According to REVOLT, the project sold approximately 10,000 units in its opening week, while Yung Miami later described its rollout as unsuccessful and said the two artists were in different places in their careers.

Their individual pursuits also contributed to the distance. Yung Miami gained visibility through her “Caresha Please” interview series, while JT developed her solo career with releases including “OKAY” and her project “City Cinderella.” In April 2024, tensions spilled onto social media after Yung Miami accused JT of taking shots at her through the songs “Sideways” and “No Bars.”

During a recent Pandora Playback interview, Yung Miami said she believed the last time she and JT spoke was around JT’s birthday nearly two years ago. Still, she did not completely close the door on making music together again. When asked about a possible reunion, she responded, “I mean, inshallah.”
