RZA’s latest film, “One Spoonful of Chocolate,” just dropped on Hulu along with several other titles worth adding to your weekend watch lists.
Recently, RZA found himself with a rather tough choice to make. He could either purchase a new home with his wife, Talani Diggs, or he could finally fund the movie he’d been trying to make for over a decade.
Choosing the latter, the Wu-Tang Clan founder poured his resources into bringing “One Spoonful of Chocolate,” his fourth film, a neo-blaxploitation revenge action thriller inspired in part by his own experiences with racism and the fraught criminal justice system to life on the big screen.
After premiering at the 2025 Tribeca Festival and in theaters earlier this year, the action film, executive-produced and presented by Quentin Tarantino, has just landed on Hulu.
“One spoon of chocolate can change a whole glass of milk, you know what I mean? That’s the idea,” he told the Hollywood Reporter ahead of its premiere.
Set in the fictional and hilariously named Karenville, Ohio, and starring Shameik Moore and RJ Cyler, the film follows Unique (Moore), a military veteran and ex-convict looking for a fresh start who instead finds himself caught up in a sinister mystery involving missing Black men, violent racists, a corrupt sheriff’s department, and so much more. While the film has received mixed reviews, its more than offering enough in the way of explosive fight sequences and action choreography. It’s also among a handful of exciting new releases arriving on streaming platforms this week worth adding to your weekend watch list.
From independent dramas and comedy specials to new seasons of popular shows, we’ve rounded up seven more new movies and shows featuring Black leads to stream this weekend.
