A film that defied every odd, ‘Sinners’ starring Michael B. Jordan and directed by Ryan Coogler, has emerged as one of the year’s most powerful cinematic releases. 

The Ryan Coogler-led original debuted at No. 1, pulling in an impressive opening $45.6 million at the box office.

This marked the strongest opening for an original release since the pre-pandemic era, trailing only Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’. 

Impact extends far beyond ticket sales.

It tallied a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from more than three dozen critics, making it one of the best-reviewed wide releases in recent years.

Awards buzz has followed suit.

‘Sinners’ earned 17 Critics’ Choice Award nods, and a major showing at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards with seven nominations, also receiving short list nods for the Oscars
