According to new filings in California’s Central District Court, the embattled star, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan in 2020, has asked a judge to issue a protective order shielding him from further deposition testimony.

Lanez’s legal team argues that forcing additional testimony risks prejudicing his criminal appeal and violating his constitutional rights, noting that other witnesses haven’t faced the same level of scrutiny.

Megan launched her defamation suit in October 2024, accusing Cooper of spreading damaging claims and sharing an “altered sexual depiction” at Lanez’s order.

A judge has not yet ruled on Lanez’s motion, which could significantly shape the discovery phase of the high-profile case.
