Pink is adding another major moment to her already stacked résumé.

The chart-topper has been tapped to host the 79th Annual Tony Awards, set to take place this June at Radio City Music Hall.

While the casting may raise eyebrows given she’s never graced Broadway as a performer, the ‘Raise Your Glass’ singer is embracing the challenge with humour, even joking she needed approval from her daughter before saying yes, saying in a statement to Deadline that:

“I immediately thought, ‘I have to get permission from my daughter.’ I’ve never been on Broadway, and shouldn’t you have to have been on Broadway in order to host? That seems fair and right. But when I asked my daughter, she was really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys, so I’m hosting the Tonys and I’m really, really, excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd!”

Still, Pink’s deep admiration for theatre culture and her reputation for electrifying live shows make her a compelling choice. With decades of hits, multiple Grammys and a global fanbase under her belt, she brings undeniable star power to Broadway’s biggest night.

The 79th Annual Tony Awards will air June 7, on CBS, streaming on Paramount+ 8-11 pm ET/5-8 pm PT.
